Joanna and Łukasz’s Wedding

There’s just something magical about a couple that loves each other so deeply that their love and their joy make everyone around them feel overwhelmingly happy. This was the case with Joanna and Łukasz, an incredible couple. Their wedding was a celebration of love, life and family. This wedding had it all! Just to mention a few of the elements that made this wedding so special, happy tears, tons of heartfelt wishes for the bride and groom, wedding traditions, a blessing and a symbolic gift from the parents (bread, salt and vodka), a moment to honor Joanna and Łukasz’s parents, […]

Moving to the Sony A7RII for my travel photography Part 2

The other day I was in Philadelphia to test the Sony A7RII a little more. I’m still in the process of getting used to this small camera. Here is an image taken with it and the Zeiss 16-35mm f4 which is the only lens I have for this camera. I wish there was a way to adapt my Nikon lenses with an auto-focus adapter, but so far it looks like that will not happen anytime soon. I do use a simple manual adapter with an aperture ring and that works great, but a reliable autofocus adapter would be much appreciated. […]

Moving to the Sony A7RII for my travel photography.

Manhattan view at sunset from the Staten Island Ferry. This image was taken a couple of weeks ago with the Sony A7RII. I finally switched to the Sony for all my landscapes and travel photography. Most of the time I used to carry around my Nikon D810 and the Nikkor 14-24mm lens, but that was such a heavy combo. When getting the A7RII, I was just hoping that the image quality would be somewhat on par with the D810 and I have to say that I think it is. Besides the obvious camera body size, my new lens, Zeiss 16-35 […]

Philadelphia Photo Shoot with Yana

These are images of a recent photo shoot with Yana in Philadelphia. We started the shoot around Benjamin Franklin Parkway almost at sunset, and we then changed our location to the Penn’s Landing area for some evening photos. Yana was a natural and did an excellent job posing effortlessly. I think we all had a lot of fun and it was a real pleasure to work with her. The photos turned out quite well and I’m happy to share them with you guys.

A fun afternoon with a terrific couple

We started Jessica and Tom’s engagement session at the beautiful place they’d just moved in to begin their life together.  We had an amazing time shooting there. Jessica and Tom posed for us looking stylish, elegant and edgy. After that, we headed over to Rehoboth Beach, another meaningful location with just the perfect sunset to continue shooting. Not far away from here and facing the sea, Tom proposed to Jessica last winter. This was an awesome engagement shoot! The chosen locations were very dear to Jessica and Tom and provided a great casual atmosphere.  Jessica and Tom make a terrific […]

Stephanie and David’s Wedding at the Hotel DuPont

Stephanie and David’s wedding was held at the elegant and sophisticated Hotel du Pont in Wilmington, DE. From start to finish and from the classic du Barry Room to the opulent Gold Ballroom, their wedding unfolded flawlessly. Guests came from all over the country to share Stephanie and David’s big day and the beginning of their journey as husband and wife. One of the most touching details from the reception was a slideshow that depicted their love story. Their love for one another shines through in every image we captured; as they were exchanging their marriage vows, going into the […]

Machu Picchu

In the distance on top of the pyramid to the right is the sun clock  known as the Intihuatana. You can see some tourists up there trying to catch a glimpse of it. I heard that in the recent past you could get all the way to the sun clock and touch it, but these days there is a rope fence along which people are rushed through.  I literally had about 10 seconds to take some pictures before I had to continue forward. I guess this is quite reasonable since there are thousands of tourists passing through Machu Picchu each […]

Yanque, Peru

This is a picture taken from my cozy hotel room window in Yanque, Peru. This is one of the many memorable places I visited and I highly recommend it. You can hike up the Andes Mountains and catch a beautiful sunrise or go check out the smoking volcano on the other side of town. This is definitely a place to visit and explore when you make it to Peru.

Pisac, Peru

Pisac is a tourist attraction characterized by the agricultural Inca terraces. It is located around 30Km from the city of Cusco in Peru.  This image shows the valley, some houses, today’s agricultural land and the roads.  These roads make a beautiful drive through the valleys and the Andes mountains possible.

Johnston, Rhode Island

While strolling around Johnston, Rhode Island last week I came across this peculiar, rather mysterious and quite beautiful green patch of algae. I got there just before the sunrise with the intent to photograph a waterfall nearby and this was a very pleasant surprise.

A Colorful Senior Portrait Session

I made some of my favorite images at this senior portrait session. Christyn, her mother, my assistant and I had fun exploring the Alapocas Run State Park. The weather could not have been more cooperative and it turned out to be a beautiful day. The natural fall foliage backdrop was definitely inspiring and the lighting was as perfect as Christyn’s stunning big blue eyes. We had a wonderful time taking Christyn’s senior pictures today and wish her all the best!

La Mina Beach

Hard to believe, isn’t it? Such a beautiful beach and there is no one there to enjoy it:) It’s La Mina Beach and it must be one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in Peru. It’s located in the Paracas National Reserve. This image was chosen by Google to be displayed as a background image for devices and services such as Chromecast and Google Hangouts. I must say, that’s pretty cool and I spotted it on my television yesterday:) I am honored! Thank you Google!

Alejandra and Andrea

I took these pictures during my last trip to Peru. It was a cloudy and chilly afternoon at the end of July, but Alejandra and Andrea certainly made these pictures feel and look sunny. They had so many great ideas and we had a fantastic time sightseeing and finding locations in Pachacamac, around 30 km south of Lima. I think that these images showcase not only the love between these two beautiful sisters, but also how much fun they have together. Thank you, Alejandra and Andrea! It was an awesome day!

Stephanie and David’s Engagement

A couple of weeks ago I shot an engagement session with Stephanie and David. They chose not only a beautiful location for their photoshoot, but also a meaningful place since it was there where it all began. Their story is one of a kind. They had certainly picked the most memorable places on the University of Delaware campus for the photoshoot. Compared to a normal busy day at UD, on that particular day we were lucky to have the campus all to ourselves. Stephanie and David took us on a tour while we were taking pictures and listening to the […]

Wedding Bells at the Brick Hotel

Last week I had the opportunity to photograph Maggie and Curtis’s wedding at a historic downtown location in Georgetown, DE. The Brick Hotel offered a charming atmosphere for the getting ready photos, the formal portraits, the ceremony and the reception. I tried to capture the emotion of every moment, big or small, so Maggie and Curtis will always remember how their special day felt. Maggie and Curtis were surrounded by so much affection and warmth from their family and friends who witnessed their love and exchange of marriage vows as they began their journey together. The day was certainly filled […]

Engagement Shoot with Maggie and Curtis

Last week I was at an engagement session with Maggie and Curtis. A couple of hours of shooting until the sunset was great with beautiful colors in natural light! They were both gleaming with happiness. We were all having a good time taking pictures and we finished off with one of the best pizzas I have ever had…shrimp scampi! I cannot recommend it enough! Thanks guys!

Town Hall in Barrington, RI

Last week I was in Providence, Rhode Island and had the opportunity to take some pictures from the surrounding areas. Here is an image of the Town Hall in Barrington, RI captured at sunset, definitely one of the nicest and most interesting government buildings around RI. This is also one of the first shots taken with my latest addition, Nikon D750. The dynamic range and image quality is on par with the D610 I shoot with most of the time. This is a much better choice for shots when focusing in low light. I can also say that the low […]

Shuang’s Family

Here are a few images from last week’s shoot in Rhode Island. I had the opportunity to photograph my friend’s family. Everything was great except for the terrible wind they had to deal with, but since we had a glimpse of a nice sunny spring day, we had to take advantage of it! The only person that didn’t mind the wind was their daughter.

Off the highway

On the way to visit my family today I noticed this scene while driving on route 1 North about 15 minutes away from Wilmington. I just had to pull over and take a picture. It’s a good thing to drag your gear with you from time to time:) The funny thing is that a beautiful sunset was on the other side of the highway, but I couldn’t get across because of the traffic. I was not sure if I could get a ticket for stopping on the highway just to take a picture or two, but here is what I […]

St. Nicholas Basilica

This is a picture of a bronze statue of the Polish Duke Świętopełk II Wielki and the St. Nicholas Basilica (Bazylika Św. Mikołaja) in Gdańsk, Poland. The construction of this basilica began some time in the 12th century.

Frozen Motława River

Here is an image of the frozen Motława river in Gdańsk, Poland. The two boats in the image look almost like some icebreakers in Antarctica. Normally there would be thousands of tourists walking along the sidewalk, but not on that cold winter day.

The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. This is an extremely impressive site, not to mention Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world in my opinion. The image is from my last trip to Italy and it was quite a challenge to capture as much of the cathedral as possible in a single image. I just barely got far enough to fit what I could in the frame:)

Ulica Mariacka

Probably the prettiest street in Gdansk, Poland. This is Ulica Mariacka. I posted images of this street before, but this is the first one that shows the street covered with snow.

Wadowice, Poland

This is an image of the inside of the church where Saint John Paul II was baptized and it is located in Wadowice, Poland, his birthplace. The house where he and his family lived is right next to the church. I have some images taken outside of the church as well, I’ll be posting them later at some point.   This image was taken just outside of the main church area walking in from the front of the church. Here I used a 14mm wide angle lens to capture as much as possible of the beautiful architecture.

Fontana di Trevi

Fontana di Trevi, Rome, Italy. I again managed to somehow take a shot with only a few tourists in it. For those of you that have not yet been there, there must be a million tourists like me around the fountain 24/7:) It’s a beautiful place. I highly recommend visiting.

Stairway to Heaven

Here is another view of the Eiffel Tower. Miraculously, I missed all the tourists. Here is a funny story. We wanted to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower so we got in this mile-long ticket line. About half way through we realized this was the staircase line, not the elevator line:) It was too late to change lines and so we ended up climbing up I don’t even know how many steps. The good news was that for the last little tiny bit, we were able to take the elevator, woohoo! I took about a hundred of unusable […]

Norwegian Museum of Cultural History in Oslo

This is an image from my trip to the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History in Oslo. It is an amazing place and the largest European open air museum exhibiting 160 houses from different areas of Norway spanning across many social and religious groups. The medieval wooden stave church in this picture is one of the only few in Europe. Most are located in Norway and Sweden. There is also one in Poland called Karpacz in Jelenia Góra.

HDR Photography, Gear and Recommendations

HDR or “High Dynamic Range” photography has become one of the most popular ways to display images in recent years. I thought it would be a good idea to share with you what the common HDR requirements are and what my preferred set of tools to produce the majority of the images in my fine-art galleries is. This is by no means a requirement to produce good HDR photography; this is only the set of tools that I like to use. You can get very nice HDR results using a wide variety of tools at different prices and a growing […]
